Reform UK Councillors Help Identify £700m in Savings for Taxpayers

Since being elected to councils across the country, Reform UK councillors have already helped identify more than £700 million in savings for taxpayers.

This milestone demonstrates the party’s commitment to bringing stronger financial scrutiny and accountability to local government.

Across Reform-run councils and authorities where Reform councillors hold seats, elected members have focused on challenging unnecessary spending, reviewing budgets in detail, and ensuring public money is used efficiently.

In 2025/26 alone, Reform-led councils identified over £325 million in savings, with a further £400 million in savings identified for the following financial year.

These efforts have also helped keep council tax lower than it otherwise might have been, with Reform-led councils recording the lowest average council tax position of any party.

Reform councillors believe that residents deserve transparency and responsible financial management from their local authorities. By scrutinising spending and prioritising value for money, Reform representatives are working to ensure councils focus on delivering essential services rather than expanding bureaucracy.

Here in Lancashire, Reform councillors are applying the same principles — standing up for taxpayers, challenging waste, and working to make local government more efficient and accountable.

With public finances under pressure across the country, Reform UK believes responsible financial management has never been more important.

As the party continues to grow its presence in councils nationwide, Reform councillors remain focused on a clear priority: protecting taxpayers and delivering better value for money.
