What we collect

When you sign one of our petitions, we collect your name, postcode, email address, and the fact that you have signed the petition. We may also record the date and time of your signature.

How we use your information

We will only use the information you provide to support, verify, and present this petition to the relevant authority. We will not use your details for any other purpose — including leaflets, campaign communications, or mailing lists — unless the specific petition page clearly states an additional use and you have given your consent to it, for example by ticking a separate opt-in box.

Why we collect it and our lawful basis

We collect this information to demonstrate the level of public support for the petition, to verify that signatures are genuine and from local residents, and to submit the petition to the relevant authority, such as Fylde Council or Lancashire County Council. Because signing a political petition can reveal your political opinions, which is special category data under UK data protection law, we rely on your explicit consent, which you give when you tick the consent box and submit your signature. If you separately opt in to receive campaign updates from us by email, we rely on your consent for that too, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us.

Who we share it with

Petition signatures, including names and postcodes, may be submitted to the relevant council or public body as part of presenting the petition. We do not sell your information or share it with third parties for their own marketing. Our website and form providers process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep petition signatures for as long as the petition campaign is active and for up to twelve months after it concludes, after which they are securely deleted unless we are required to keep them longer for legal reasons. If you have opted in to campaign updates, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent will not affect anything done before you withdrew it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@reformfylde.com. We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page.
