Too many family homes outside existing Article 4 areas are being converted into Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) without proper planning oversight. This is changing the character of our communities and reducing the availability of family housing.
In March 2022, Housing Enforcement launched a programme to inspect all HMOs in Fylde. It is estimated that there are around 530 HMOs across the borough, highlighting the scale of the issue.

I have formally called on the Conservative Leader at Fylde Borough Council to review current policy and extend Article 4 coverage where necessary. Proper controls must be in place to protect neighbourhoods, maintain standards, and ensure that homes remain available for local families.
This is about fairness, accountability, and safeguarding our communities — and I will continue to press for action.
